OSCAR-WINNING ACTRESS Olympia Dukakis will visit Cyprus for the first time ever next month to host a series of workshops on “How to Work with Actors” workshop at the ARTos Foundation.
Dukakis has starred in films like Steel Magnolias, Mr. Holland's Opus, Mighty Aphrodite, and Moonstruck, for which she won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. “After years of acting in movies and television, Dukakis felt the biggest gap in the education of her peers was in the communication between actors and directors.
For this reason she has created a workshop that deals with exactly that subject. She has been invited to teach this workshop at New York University and Columbia University’s graduate film programme,” said an announcement from ARTos.
The workshop that will take place at ARTos Foundation from the 16 – 21 of February, is ideal for professional actors and directors who want to improve their skills with hands-on practice. The idea is to be able to work together under the guidance of Dukakis, and workshop original material and do scene work in a low-stress environment.
On weekdays throughout the star’s visit, workshops take place from 6pm-10pm and on the Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 2pm and from 3pm to 5pm
The workshop is supported by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
