FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE 29.JAN.10Rauf Denktash, the former Turkish Cypriot leader, has stated that he may support Dervis Eroglu in the forthcoming “presidential elections” in the north of Cyprus.
In statement on Kanal T television’s news bulletin, Denktash said he wants the “election” of a “president”, who defends “his state and its sovereignty”.
Asked on whether he could support Mr Eroglu within this framework, Mr Denktash replied: “Look, I am saying that I will support one who will defend his state and its sovereignty”.
