Government Spokesman Christos Stylianides expressed his “surprise and grave concern over the statements of Turkish PM Erdogan, that “there is no country called Cyprus”. In a written statement, Stylianides says that in a period of consultations for a joint declaration, aiming at the relaunch of substantial Cyprus talks, Erdogan should rather show his good will and prove in a tangible manner his repeated statements for a quick solution.
The Government Spokesman says that once more, the need for a joint declaration becomes clear, stating in clear manner the basic principles for a Cyprus solution.
This is the only guarantee to avoid an impasse, Stylianides concludes.
